# [Automations guides and connectors] - Rename Step

This page explains how to rename a step in an automation. It is intended for developers or users configuring automations who need to update step names for clarity or organization during automation setup or maintenance.

## Rename Step

To rename a step from the automation, perform the steps given below:
- Click the action tab (in our case, **Send Message**).
- Click the edit icon visible on the action header to rename the step.
- The **Send Message** field becomes editable. You can update the name of the step as required and click the “✔” check mark.
