# [Brand Kit] - Delete Item in Knowledge Vault

This page explains how to delete an item (or folder) from the Brand Kit Knowledge Vault in Contentstack. It is intended for Contentstack users managing Brand Kit content, especially Organization/Stack Owners and Admins, and should be used when a Knowledge Vault item or folder is outdated or no longer required.

## Delete Item in Knowledge Vault

If a Knowledge Vault item is no longer required, or becomes outdated or unnecessary, you can delete it from the Knowledge Vault. In this guide, we will discuss how to delete a Knowledge Vault item.

**Note**: Only Brand Kit [Owner](/docs/developers/organization/organization-roles#organization-owner)/[Admin](/docs/developers/organization/organization-roles#organization-admin) can edit items in the Knowledge Vault.

## Prerequisites

- [Contentstack account](https://www.contentstack.com/login/)
- Access to Organization that has Brand Kit enabled
- Access to the Contentstack Organization/Stack as the [Owner](/docs/developers/organization/organization-roles#organization-owner)/[Admin](/docs/developers/organization/organization-roles#organization-admin)

## Steps for Execution

To delete a Knowledge Vault item, log in to your [Contentstack account](https://www.contentstack.com/login) and perform the following steps:

- On the left navigation panel, click the **Brand Kit** icon.
- Select the **Brand Kit** whose Knowledge Vault item you want to delete.
- Click **Knowledge Vault** from the left navigation panel.
- Under the **Actions** tab, click the vertical ellipses corresponding to the Knowledge Vault item that you want to delete and then select **Delete**.
- In the **Delete Item** modal, click **Delete** to permanently delete the Knowledge Vault item.
- To delete the subfolder from the Knowledge Vault, click the **Delete** option. You can also delete selected items from the folder.  
  **Warning**: If you delete a folder, all items within the folder will be deleted.
- In the **Delete Folder** modal, click the **Delete** button to permanently delete the Knowledge Vault folder.

You will get a success message once the item or folder is deleted from the Knowledge Vault.

## Common questions

### Who can delete items in the Knowledge Vault?
Only Brand Kit [Owner](/docs/developers/organization/organization-roles#organization-owner)/[Admin](/docs/developers/organization/organization-roles#organization-admin) can edit items in the Knowledge Vault.

### What happens if I delete a folder in the Knowledge Vault?
**Warning**: If you delete a folder, all items within the folder will be deleted.

### Where do I delete a Knowledge Vault item from?
Under the **Actions** tab, click the vertical ellipses corresponding to the Knowledge Vault item that you want to delete and then select **Delete**.

### How do I confirm deletion?
In the **Delete Item** modal, click **Delete** to permanently delete the Knowledge Vault item (or in the **Delete Folder** modal, click the **Delete** button).
