About Assets

##### Content

Contentstack provides a centralized **Assets** repository where you can store and manage various file types, including images, videos, PDFs, and audio files. This repository simplifies file management by enabling you to reuse and organize your assets across multiple entries in your stack.

## Key Features of Assets
- **File Upload and Storage**: Easily upload and securely store a variety of files into the Assets repository of your stack for future use.
- **Attachment to Entries**: Attach uploaded assets to entries seamlessly, allowing you to reuse the same asset across multiple entries to maintain consistency and save time.
- **Asset Management**: You can perform the following actions on assets:
**Upload**: Add new assets to your stack.
- **Update**: Modify asset details as needed.
- **Delete**: Remove assets from your stack.
- **Publish**: Publish assets to specific environments and locales.
- **Unpublish**: Unpublish assets from selected environments and locales as required.
- **Filter**: Use filters to quickly find specific assets within your repository.

These capabilities ensure that your assets are well-organized, accessible, and reusable, enhancing the efficiency of your content creation and management processes.

**Note**: Assets added or updated in specific branches are branch-specific, with URLs reflecting the branch name, except for assets in the main branch. Refer to our document on [Branch-specific Modules](/docs/developers/branches/branch-specific-modules) for details.
